Commission

Commission Something Truly Wonderful!

Commissions for me are super exciting, I get to collaborate with a client to produce something a totally unique, one off piece. This really matches my ethos of not mass producing imagery and creating bespoke one of a kind works of art.

So what's the process I hear you ask?

1. Thanks greatly for looking at my work and thinking about having your own ideas put onto canvas.

2. I normally create portraits which is my main focus, but I am open to new ideas.

3. If it is a portrait or portraits, please send me send me a high qualify reference photo(s) to:

[email protected]

4. Once I have received the images and rough idea of  your size requirements, I can provide a rough quote and possible draft. The commission quote is based upon an hourly rate.

5. Once the brief has been agreed, and your are happy with the draft, I will confirm exact pricing.

6. I send photos of the completed work and a video so you can see what has been produced before dispatch.

7. Once any tweaks have been made, the painting will be varnished and left to cure and then securely dispatched via a track and trace courier. I will share the tracking details with you.

The process start to finish takes approximately 4 weeks but this can vary depending upon the complexity of your commission.

Example 1

The painting above was made up of multiple images. Getting children to sit still and smile for the camera all at the same time can be like herding cats! So different images of the children were provided to make up the right composition.

The client requested, if possible, that I amend their clothing so the children were dressed in matching outfits, within a highland setting.

I think this painting turned out really well and is now sitting in pride of place in her home. I enjoyed producing the painting for a lovely family.

The client has since sent me picture of the painting as they have also had it framed and communicated that it's something their whole family are absolutely thrilled with.

Example 2

The painting above was a one commission of a single image. This was really lovely to do as the reference photo was a high quality image, so I could easily see the detail required.

The client sent me a high resolution image to work from and had asked for some tweaks to the original image. She was keen to retain the floral print background and while this isn't something I would normally do, I feel it worked really well in this painting and helped to add a sense of depth and texture to the background.
