About the Artist

Minty (AKA Mark McDonnell) believes that art should be created to be unique and not mass produced, shying away from painting the same image twice and also unlimited print runs. This creates a feeling of exclusivity for his clients as they can rest assured that each piece is unique to those who commission him.

His more recent works have been large scale, and full colour with a more flamboyant and free feeling, which he says has been as challenging as it has been rewarding. His preferred subject to paint is women, where he creates a sense of movement and drama while conveying a sense of emotion and softness, often with an almost tactile feeling to his imagery. Mintys work is highly desirable and much sought after due to the way it is produced and the ethos behind it.

He spent his formative years in Islington and Camden and this is reflected in his work through the use of strong graphics, bold colours and impressively sized canvases.

Drawing on popular culture, music and film and his personal interest in urban and modern art has helped him to refine his works into quite a recognisable style.  Primarily working with acrylic paints on stretched canvas, Minty also now has embraced the reduce, reuse, and recycle ethos in an effort to reduce the carbon footprint of his art. With some of his works travelling to collectors world wide, he feels it's important to offset this by also reducing waste that goes to landfiill.

Above is a picture of me and the legendary Maggie the Labrador. If you view my Instagram account you will notice that many of my followers love my art, but want to know where Maggie is! Do look out for her across my work.

Last year, I finally completed my first self portrait. It is said every artist should do one. I was surprised how much I learned and how you really look at yourself.

Completed self portrait "The Mugshot"

Remember Maggie is the star of the show! lol

Please get in touch if you would like further information on my portfolio or would like to discuss commissioning your own personal work of art.

Best Wishes
